Turkey  

Turkey is located on the territory of Europe and Asia. The country occupies 36 th place in the world for the area which is about 784 thousand square kilometres. Turkey’s neighbours are: Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Iran – in the east; Syria and Iraq – in the south; Bulgaria and Greece – in the west. The country is washed by four seas: the Mediterranean, the Black, the Marmara and the Aegean. The capital of the country is Ankara. The country is rich in the monuments of ancient architecture. In Istanbul, it is worth visiting the Topkapi Palace, the Gold Souk and St Sofia Cathedral. Ancient stadium and theatre remained in the vicinity of Perge. Myra ruins can be seen near Demre. Not far from Antalya are the most beautiful monuments of nature: the canyon deeper than 110 meters – Gyuvert; Kepryu and Upper Duden waterfalls; ancient cave Karain. Alanya is famous for its byzantine fortress and the 30-meter Red Tower. In Beleke is a park reserve with an occupied territory of more than 500ha – Koprulu Canyon. White limestone deposits create the impression of snow in Pamukale.
