Phuket

Phuket Island is one of the most popular resorts in Thailand and located in the south-east of Thailand in the waters of the Andaman Sea of the Indian Ocean. Phuket is also a province of Thailand. The capital of the island and the province is the city of Phuket (Phuket Town). The island’s population in 2011 is 348 504 people.

‘Phuket’ is translated from Malaysian as ‘a mountain’ (Tanjung Salang, Mountain Salang). The highest peak is Mai Thao Sip Song (Twelve Peak Reeds) rising to 750 meters above sea level. Despite the unimpressive sizes, Phuket is the largest island of Thailand. From the mainland, the island is separated by strait the minimum width of which is only 600 meters and the maximum reaches five kilometres. In western part of the strait, the island is connected to the mainland by two bridges. For tourists, all the conditions have been created here, which can only wish for. You can settle in the developed and the bustling tourist area and Patong Beach which is hardly inferior to the famous Pattaya, and you can find a quiet and secluded beach of Mai Khao which you will not meet anyone for many kilometres. And you can find a golden mean and settle down on the beach Bang Tao, very close to the entertainment of Patong, and vacationers are quite a bit on the beach. In general, you can choose a place to relax suit to every taste.
